Christmas concert

Dear parents,

There will be a Christmas concert in the school hall at 3pm on Saturday 20th December. If you have any questions about this, please come to our school office and we will answer them.

Yours sincerely,

Shep Dog

P.S. Tickets for the concert (two per child) will be handed out in class.

P.P.S. All choir club children must be at the school on Saturday 20th December by 2:45pm.

Easter biscuits

The children will be decorating biscuits for Easter with coloured icing. For this, we will need parents to bring in as many biscuits as possible. We promise not to eat them all in the staff room! (Fingers crossed.)Biscuits

Back to school

We hope you have enjoyed a nice Christmas holiday and not overdone it on the sherry. Don’t forget that the new school term starts on Tuesday 3rd January, so remember to drop your children off at the school gate before 9am, but not too early!

Shep Dog, Headmaster

Sand walk

Beach

We will be holding a school ‘sand walk’ along the local beach on Friday June 18th. Please fill in the form emailed to parents to enable your child to take part. They will need to wear appropriate clothing on the day and bring money for buying ice creams. As an old dog, I won't be taking part in the walk myself, but instead relaxing in a deckchair with a cool drink and a good book. Not that that's the whole purpose of the day. Perish the thought.

Regards,

Shep Dog, Headmaster

School reopening

Dear parents,

Good news: you will be soon to be able to offload your teddies and send them back to school. After having about nine weeks' holiday, the government have decided that teachers need to get out of their beds and get back to work. Boo hoo. So from the 8th of March teddies in Reception and Year 1 will be able to return to school part-time. More information will be coming on how classes will be split to maintain social distancing amongst teddies. Note that Year 2 children will return on the 15th of March.

Regards,

Shep Dog, Headmaster

Christmas concert

Tickets are now available from the school office for this year’s Christmas concert. Note that the school brass and strings beginners will be playing, so be sure to bring your earplugs!

Sports day postponed

I hope you are all enjoying the sunny weather we're having at the moment. The forecast, however, suggests there is a very slight chance of rain next Monday, so we have decided to postpone school sports day. More details on a new date soon.

New school year

We welcome the children back for another school year. No doubt you parents are breathing a sigh of relief after the long summer holidays, as you hand them over once again for us teachers to take care of. As you can imagine, we’re all delighted to be back in school rather than sipping exotic cocktails in a poolside bar in the Med.

Anyhow, make sure your children are wearing the correct school uniform otherwise we'll send them home!

Shep Dog – Headmaster

Summer term ends today!

The pupils are excited and the teachers are ecstatic. Yes, it's that time of year when the school closes and we get six long weeks of glorious holiday! No doubt parents are also delighted at the prospect of trying to keep their children entertained.

We'll see you all again in September for a new year of school but until then, happy holidays!

Shep Dog – Headmaster

School closed today!

Thursday March 1st – School is closed today due to severe weather conditions.

Teddies stay at home!

Softted visit

On Thursday and Friday, 8-9 February, Softted inspectors will be coming to the school. So parents, please make sure your children look smart and are well behaved. Sweep Dog is welcome to stay at home on those days.

In 2015, Softted rated us as an outstanding school. We hope to retain that rating! If you are a member of staff, you are more than welcome to come to our meeting with Softted inspectors on the Friday.

Yours faithfully,

Shep Dog, Headmaster

New term

The spring term began on 5th January. It was wonderful to see all the children's smiling faces as they flooded through the school gates.  The teachers were a bit grumpy, though.

We look forward to a wonderful term of learning. Topics include the ancient Egyptians, so the children will be learning all about the pyramids and mummies!

Choir club also returns, with the children preparing for the annual school production in the summer.

Shep Dog, Headmaster

New Year's party

Dear parents and children,

The staff are having a wonderful party this evening to celebrate the new year. We'll have music, nibbles and bubbly drinks. You aren't invited, but we wish you all a Happy New Year!

Don't forget, the new term starts on Tuesday 2nd January. See you then!

Yours sincerely,

Shep Dog, Headmaster

Reading challenge

Congratulations to Hacker, who has completed the summer reading challenge at the school library.

New school year

Don't forget that the new school year starts on Tuesday the 5th of September. Note that the 4th is a teacher training day, so don't come in... unless you're a teacher, of course!

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday and finding out what you've been up to in the summer holidays.

Shep Dog, headmaster

School sports day

Everyone had lots of fun at the recent school sports day. The weather was very hot and sunny, but all the children had nice cold drinks to cool them down. Races included hurdles, skipping, running, distance running and egg and spoon.

New deputy headteacher!

Leo the Lion, Deputy Headteacher

We have just hired a deputy headteacher. His name is Leo the Lion and he is a very experienced teacher. Born in Africa, he taught in the Blackboard Jungle school before coming to the UK. He has a powerful roar, so the children always do what they're told! He's not actually that vicious, though: in fact, he's very nice. If you have any enquiries or questions about our deputy head, please speak to the school office.

Kind regards,

Mr King on behalf of Shep Dog

New teacher

This year we welcome a new teacher, Miss Soo Panda-Buns. She has formerly worked for Softted, so she know a thing or two about what makes a good school! She will be teaching Dog class this year.

Poetry corner

Baby Teddy's grandma has sent us this lovely poem about starting school...

Teddy’s First Day At School
By Norma Bear

I am a little teddy bear,

My fur all curly and brown,

I’m usually bright and cheerful,

But today I wear a frown.

Why am I so worried

On this bright and sunny day?

I’m all dressed up in funny clothes,

Please let me go and play.

But now my mum won’t let me,

She says ‘Stay clean, my boy,

You have a new adventure,

Join the other bears with joy.’

With my new leather satchel,

I really look quite cool,

They have only just told me

It’s my very first day at school.

New school year

The new school year will start on Monday 12th September. The school has been very busy lately with preparing stuff for next year. Mr King has been very busy preparing new school afternoon sport clubs. We would also like to thank Mrs Lightfoot for making new school uniforms for our newly built shop. She has also been busy making costumes for the school play, The Dog in the Dress, which will be staged in January. Mr Wallace has been helpfully mowing our sports field, but the grass is still a bit long so he needs to do it again. We would finally like to thank all the year leaders in our school.

School photos

imageThis week, we have taken school photos of the children. We will be sending a letter home and if you would like to buy your child's photo, it will cost £10. Please send the slip, and money, to your class teacher.

Yours sincerely,

Mr King

Sports day

School sports day will be held on Friday 24 June, from 5pm until 7pm, on the school field. The Key Stage 1 sports activities are: skipping, running and long jump. Sadly, there will be no egg and spoon race as we don't have any eggs. Please keep your child's PE kit in school until this day is over. There will be races for mummies and daddies; if you would like to enter, please tell the school office.

Yours sincerely,

Mr King and Mr Nigel

P.S. The children do not need to apply to do sports day.

Babbage! (new pupil)

Babbage
Babbage

We are happy to welcome a new pupil to Lizard class. Babbage Bear is a big fan of the Raspberry Pi computer. He even has a backpack with LEDs and other electronic parts in it. He is named after Charles Babbage, a 19th century pioneer of computing.

Music lessons

Mr King and Mr Wallace are now offering music lessons in the music room at lunchtimes and after school. You can learn piano, glockenspiel, harmonica, drums, tambourine, maracas, clacker, rattle-drum or music theory. Prices from £50 per term. For more details, please visit the school office.

The children enjoyed a Christmas lunch at the carvery. Hacker loved the selection of meats. Fozzie told a joke he found in his cracker.

Yours sincerely,

Mr King and Shep Dog

P.S. Tickets for the concert (two per child) will be handed out in class. If you only want one ticket, just throw one of them in the bin and use the other one.

P.P.S. All choir club children must be at the school on Saturday 12th December by 2:45pm.

Santa's grotto visit !

The children from Hamster and Lizard classes enjoyed seeing Father Christmas. They told him what they wanted for Christmas. Hacker asked for a luxury selection of meat paste. Sooty wanted a new magic wand. Fozzie asked for a new joke book! Elmo asked for some toy cars. Here are some pictures of Santa's grotto:

Croeso David

image

Welcome David the Dragon from Wales. Our new pupil has joined us from Rhos-y-Gwaliau, where he attended the Outdoor Learning Centre school. He loves rock climbing and caving.

To help him settle in, here are some Welsh words:

Croeso (welcome)

Helô (hello)

Bore Da (good morning)

Diolch yn fawr (thanks)

Ble mae'r toiled ? (where's the toilet?)
